The only difference between the set-up in the present investigation and truly non-uniform treatment is the fact that the conditions to which each part of a tomato is submitted are controlled in the experimental set-up, which is not the case in non-uniform heating resulting from a poorly controlled treatment (Lu et al., 2010).
