Lace is a fine, delicate, airy fabric made by working fine threads into beautiful patterns. It adorns some of our clothing and is often made into tablecloths that are used on special occasions. There are two ways to make lace by hand: the needle method and the bobbin method. Both require great skill and patience and take a long time. Needle lace is the older of the two methods. Some samples still in existence today date back to the 1500s and were made in Belgium or Italy. The finest laces come from Belgium. Most lace is made from white linen thread. However, one type of lace from France, called Chantilly lace, is made from black silk thread. @};-
