The American was a horse trainer from Chicago. We nodded and said hi to each other.
The Italian couple only acknowledged me if we met on the floor we stayed. Elsewhere they acted like strangers. Husband was a FedEx pilot. Often couldn't park his car properly.
The Chinese family only recently moved in. We rarely bumped into each other.
The Malay guy was quite friendly. We'd politely exchange a few words while waiting for elevator together.
Opposite my unit was a Japanese, and a typical one: expressionless, never bothered to say hello.
To my left was a Japanese couple with a small kid. Wife was sweet, polite and friendly. The husband, like most Japanese men, had no expression nor emotion: conflicting and contrasting, like many things in their culture...good and evil, creativity and backward mentality.
